Competitors Information Austrian Championships MTBO,
Sunday 15th September, Wien - Strebersdorf


OLC Wienerwald and OLT Transdanubien welcome you to the Austrian Championships of MTBO 2002 on the Bisamberg, Wien-Strebersdorf.

           First Start: !!Attention: First Start has been changed to 9:00 a.m.!!

            Assembly: 8:00 a.m. at the competition center Schulzentrum Strebersdorf, Anton Böckgasse

            Map: Bisamberg, MTBO-Map, IOF-Norm

§         Size: for categories without map change: A3,
For categories with map change: part 1: A4, part 2: A3

§         Scale: 1:15.000; contour interval: 10m; survey: June 2002

§         Magnified part: for following courses: D19-; H15-18; H19-; H35-; H45- und Guests difficult (1:7.500)

§         The map is neither waterproof nor tearproof, plastic bags are available at the start.

            Special map signatures

§         You must not cycle on open areas which are mapped as culture land (mapped yellow with black dots). It is allowed to cycle on meadows (mapped yellow without dots).

            Terrain: In the first part flat mainly open area with dirt tracks, after the map change residential area (Caution: public roads). On the longer courses partly steep tracks and narrow single trails. Attention: Partly lots of walkers, please be careful.

            Startnumbers: For both days the same startnumbers.

            Start:

§         Distance to the start: 2200m, 50m climb; marked with ribbons, at the same time warm-up area (Attention – public roads!)

§         Starting procedure: Every competitor must sign that he takes note of the special competition rules before the start. LINK in the Internet??

§         You may take the map one minute before the start.

§         First start: 9:00 a.m.

§         At the start you can take a look at the old foot orienteering map (Bisamberg, 1998)

            Map change: For following courses: D19-; D35-; H15-18; H19-; H35-; H45-; H55- Guests difficult

            Road crossing: All courses cross the “Hagenbrunner Straße” at control No 100 (= water control and for some courses map change). Crossing this road is only allowed at that point!

            Sportident:

§         The SI-Chip must be fixed to the bike (eg. Skizip, available at the OL-Shop)

§         If a SI-station should fail, you have to punch in the map.


            IMPORTANT:

§         It is prohibited to leave the mapped tracks and paths. (only exception: 100% yellow mapped meadows)

§         The use of a helmet is compulsory.

§         Be careful when you pass walkers.

§         The regulations of the Road Traffic Act must be obeyed.

§         For the courses D19-; D35-; H15-18; H19-; H35-; H45-; H55- and Guests difficult a mountainbike is strongly recommended, all bikes must have two independent and working brakes.

§         Caution! On some paths there is oncoming traffic. Right hand traffic!

§         Some paths may be blocked by trees or branches although we try to keep them free. Please be careful.

            Prohibited areas: You must not cycle in prohibited areas and on forbidden tracks (marked with pink crosses). If you ignore that you will be disqualified. (will be controlled)

            Final part: The last section of the course is on a cobbled street. Caution: It is very slippery when it is wet. Be careful at the crossings (public roads).

            Finish:

§         From the last control (Number 99) you must push your bike down earth bank to the stadium. Then you cycle a round in the stadium to the finish.

§         Competitors who arrive in the finish after 1:00 p.m. will not be classified.

§         All competititors (even those who give up) must report to the finish.

            Pricegiving ceremony: 1:30 p.m.

            WC, dressing room, showers: in the competition center

            Buffet: in the finish area; Restaurant („Zum Weinbeisser“ – Viennese cuisine!) close to the competition center
